Should Have A Picture...But Don't!

Yesterday was a long and stressful day. I had to drop Bubbie off at school and be across town for a MOPS Steering Mtg. I was trying to make sure I had everything prepared for a day away...food, bags, MOPS stuff, etc. I dropped Peanut off in his MOPPETS classroom and had plenty of time to get to the meeting. Meeting was fine. Lots of talking and planning accomplished. Got my administrative juices flowing! Because of last minute things that had to be done in the church's office, I didn't leave the church until almost 1 o'clock. I hurried across town to pick Bubbie up from school. After school, I needed to run to Wal-Mart to pick up ink cartridges for our printer. I was right in the middle of printing MOPS papers before leaving yesterday morning and then I ran out of ink (no surprise since I have been printing a TON of stuff). So, in order to finish some stuff, I desperately needed ink. I made it through the errand with both boys and I was super, duper tired. The boys were tired from their long day too. We were all ready to crash. Since it was after 3 by the time we got in the house, I ate lunch and we were settled. I decided that 3 o'clock was WAY too late to put the boys down for nap/ rest time. Hubbie had his weekly class, so I knew I would be alone until almost 9. I decided to keep the boys up and put them to bed EARLY. Bedtime around here is early anyway. Peanut goes down between 6 and 7PM- depending on his nap schedule that day and Bubbie goes to bed around 7- also depends on if he fell asleep during his rest time and at what time. Anyway. I fed the kids dinner around 5 and bathed them. When Bubbie was getting out of the tub, he slipped. He got out of the tub like he always does- puts one foot on the floor, holds on to the ledge and pulls the other around. No biggie. So this time he fell, I immediately scooped him up and pulled him away so that I could see his mouth... Oh boy! I saw blood. Yuck! Pain! Blood! Mommy mode! I then noticed that one of his front two tooth are chipped. I immediately had visions of 22 yrs ago when my youngest brother, Uncle Mookie, busted his teeth/lips/mouth into the coffee table when he was around 2 yrs old. I remember, very well, visiting the dentist late that night. I also remember the blood, the crying.... I remember it all very well. So my brain goes to surgery, teeth being pulled, crooked teeth, braces...all that stuff that Mookie has gone through because of that fall. I couldn't get anyone on the phone. I called Nana, Pops and Hubbie. Both weren't answering any of the phones. I called our pediatrician. They said don't bring Bubbie in unless I needed to be told what to do... and I would pay a co-pay for them to look at him and then tell me to take him to the ER. I laughed and called the ER. They said don't bring him in unless he needed stitches. I didn't know if he did or not, because I really couldn't see up in his mouth really well and I was so afraid to see dangling teeth or something. I am obviously not good with blood and dangling bits! The nurse at the ER suggested we call Bubbie's dentist. My son hadn't been to the dentist. I knew he needed to go, but I hated to pay a deductible for the dentist to look at him and say, well, he's good. Just baby teeth- or whatever. I do think that dentist are sometimes a bunch of quacks and purposefully miss/skip things in order to make more money. I mean, come on. How are we suppose to ever know what is truly going on?! So, anyway, I don't like dentist as you can see! I tried to call a few dentist offices here in town, but, of course, they were all closed. It was after 6 by this time and the bleeding had stopped. I finally got ahold of Nana, who was on her way over.

Once Nana got here, she looked at Bubbie's mouth and realized it was nowhere near as bad as Mookie's had been years ago. I was relieved, but still upset. That was a close call. I looked up a few things online and figured that Bubbie would be ok through the night.

Wednesday afternoon I called my dentist and they suggested a pediatric dentist. I called that office and from what I told them, they said Bubbie needed to come in. So, yesterday afternoon, the boys and I took Bubbie to his first dentist appointment. They took ex rays and checked his teeth. The dentist said that Bubbiee was very lucky and that this kind of accident is VERY common. Dr Dentist (as Bubbie calls him) said that he isn't even going to file the chipped tooth, because he doesn't want to ruin the integrity of the enamel. Bubbie got a sticker, a coupon for a free kids meal at Chick-fil-A and a toy! He was a happy boy. He wasn't scared and enjoyed his 1st dental experience. I was sick to my stomach the whole time I was there and about to throw up. If they had had to do something to Bubbie, I would have call for back-up.....

I don't have pictures of anything, because its really hard to get a clear picture of the inside of Bubbie's mouth. I did try.

So, all in all, he is ok. It could have been TEN times worse. I am saying my thanks to God for watching over my Bubbie. I have always believed in angels. I know they exist and Bubbie's was working double/triple/quadruple time on Tuesday night!

One more thing, as we were walking out of the examining room, the dental hygienist asked me if we were going to have any more children. For some reason I've been asked that 5 times this week (no exaggeration!!!). I hope I don't look/walk pregnant?! So, when she asked that, I had to laugh. I told her that days like Tuesday, make me want to run to get tubes tied ASAP!!! Not sure how many more of these incidents I can handle and with two boys (and possibly more!!!) I know there are lots more blood, stitches and accidents waiting to happen!

Yes, that is a bit too exciting. We have had a busy week too, but it was bloody noses, not mouths. Mouths bleed like crazy even if it isn't bad.

WE need to go to the dentist too. There is a good kids' dentist nearby, just need to find the time.

Wow, that was quite the day! I'm so glad that he is okay and that things went well with the dentist.

I was asked today if Matt and I were going to have any more children. I guess people assume that once you get to 2 you're done (especially since I have a boy and a girl). But what is with people asking?
