MOPS and POPS nite

Last night was MOPS and POPS date night. It was nice and cheap! For around $20 we were able to eat dinner, dessert and see the movie Fireproof. The kids were fed pizza, cookies and popcorn and the older ones also got to see a movie. So, it was well worth the money.

When Fireproof came out, our whole JTEAM had seen the movie and all raved about it. We aren't much for going to see movies. We use to do it every date night when we were dating, but I kinda of enjoy watching movies on my couch and in my pjs. I can't seem to get comfy at the movie theatre and maybe I've gotten so use to being able to lounge and relax during a movie. So, we told our JTEAM that we'd eventually see it. We knew we'd either rent it or go see it at the cheap theatre. Well, when I heard that that was the plan for the MOPS date night, I thought, oh good! we can just watch it there!

The movie Fireproof was very good. We have heard a lot about it and even skimmed through the book, Love Dare, that I bought for Aunt Lindsey for Christmas. As I was watching the movie, I thought, Gosh! How familiar are these scenes! Hubbie and I did not have a good marriage for the first....hmmm....3 years perhaps! I mean, it was ok. I'm gonna say we never had good times or were never happy, but our marriage was lacking a lot! And boy! those scenes and the character's feelings- I mean, that was us! Thankfully, instead of taking the easy way out, my parents called and got counseling set up for us and we worked through our issues. I needed to stop cutting him down for mistakes and bringing up past hurts. It took some growing up on both of our parts, but not to throw Hubbie under the bus here(Don't worry! He reads the blog and approves anything that I question!!! Whatever you're reading is ok by him!), but Hubbie did have to decide to grow up and be a man. I will never forget when I started seeing the little changes and man! its just gotten better with the years! He does the Love Dare stuff without the book and he is amazingly supportive. I am so glad we didn't give up, because I would be missing the Best Husband!

Its amazing what God can do for a marriage and I am so thankful we went through the rough spots, because we know how special marriage is and our relationship. I know my SIL said just a few weeks ago that she and Bubba (And the rest of my family) were praying for our marriage and weren't sure if we were gonna make it. 3 years later, God has healed our marriage, our finances and we've been blessed to add 1 and almost 2 more kiddos since!

So, not necessarily a plug for the movie or anything, but I don't think you can watch the movie and not feel anything. God is so awesome and He created marriage! He cares about my marriage and your marriage! Again, I know we were probably some of the last people on the PLANET to have yet to see this movie, but it was worth the time and money! And we might even take the POPS' up on the challenge, buy the book and do Love Dare until Easter!

We watched it this week, too. I didn't have high expectation for the movie because it was TOO pumped up by a lot of people, but I really enjoyed it!

We liked the fact that they stressed that a book can't heal your marriage but God can! Isn't that awesome. We serve a God who is able to do the impossible.

I've been hearing about Fireproof/Love Dare EVERYWHERE. I have yet to see the movie or read the book but I really want to check it out.

I LOVED the movie too! Glad you enjoyed it so much. We've thought about doing the Love Dare... sounds like a great challenge!

We don't do movie theaters either; never have really. I would much rather sit at home and watch than in a theater with a hundred other people. We haven't seen the movie yet either, but I've heard a lot of good things about it.

I'm glad you guys had a good date night and that you are still together to have them! Love you!
