Happy October Day!

According to my ALMOST 5 yr old little boy, now that it is October, we can.....

  • wear pants every day

  • the leaves will automatically start changing colors and falling

  • I will start driving him to "friend's houses" and to school  (he's been VERY upset that I couldn't drive)

Unfortunately, here in Georgia, our weather won't be consistently cool for AT LEAST another month or so.  I've had Thanksgiving in shorts and when Bubbie was born (beginning of December) it was a very muggy 70 degrees the day we went home from the hospital.

Again, unfortunately, our leaves don't change til mid to late October.  We will start to see the amount of pine straw on our roof and yard TRIPLE.  We have at LEAST 17 pine trees in our yard.... so that keeps us VERY busy on Saturday afternoons in the month of October, November and December.  On Sunday so much pine straw was falling from the trees that I had to really pay close attention to see if it was rain or pine straw!

When you have csections, the doc/hospital send you home with a note saying that you cannot drive for 6 weeks.  With Bubbie, the note only said 4 weeks and I obeyed the rules.  With Peanut, I really don't remember what it said.  I remember disobeying the rules once when Nana suggested I take Bubbie out to lunch at Chick-fil-A when he obviously needed some Mommy and Me time.  I think it was probably around week 3 or 4.  This time around, with a kiddo in preschool, I broke the rules and drove the kids to school on Monday, to the doctor on Tuesday and then to school and Target on Wednesday.  I haven't been on pain killer since day 1 of csection and I feel as normal as I possibly could.  I'm not out running around town.  I go back to the doc on Friday and I will get official permission to drive!

Happy October!

Hope you get to drive soon...it's hard to establish a routine when you have to depend on everyone for a lift!!

I know all those trees in your yard are beautiful, but I sure don't envy you for having to do all that yardwork!! Kind of makes me glad everything in my yard is dead (hee hee!!). It's a low maintenance yard.

Even with a natural birth, they tell you not to drive for 2 weeks. But who can hold to that very long with other kids (besides the baby!)? I was driving again within the week out of necessity!

I can't wait for the weather to be cooler all day, not just in the morning! Congratulations on your cute new baby boy! After I had my first cs, I was driving 3 days later... And a stick-shift at that! (and carrying my new baby in his heavy carrier around the mall). It's not easy to "take it easy" when you have a family to take care of!

I love October! I think I'd get along with your almost 5yo quite well. ;)
It is fully fall here in Ohio. Most leaves are changing, we had to DEFROST our windshield this morning, and I packed away most of my boys' shorts.
I love it, though.
Winter, on the other hand, but wait it's turn!
