Menu Plan Monday- Posting for the Month of August 2010

Hello August!  Its insane to think about this summer being ALMOST over and the school year upon our little town!

We're starting our second month back, into the month long menu planning and grocery shopping.  I gotta say, the second month was much easier shopping for than the first, but much harder in planning!  For me, thinking about what I'm gonna eat a month for now, its difficult....especially when I'm not even hungry!  HAHA!  Maybe each month I will become more efficient and better at planning?

We are continuing to use Sam's Club as a useful month long grocery shopping tool.  And no, not EVERYTHING is a good price!  Its fun to look at people's carts and wonder about WHY they are buying that high priced junk food!  LOL!  This month we purchased the 25lb bag of flour.  Yes, we go through A LOT of flour by baking our own bread.  Also, quite a few things we purchased LAST MONTH, we still have more than half of, so again, I hope this is a trend that a lot of our stuff lasts more than a month!

Last month we increased our budget by 50 dollars.  It was something we didn't want to do but with the added mouth to feed with Buggy eating more and more food, we figured it would help cushion our spending.  Also, we have changed several of the things we have been eating.....  starting with purchasing local, non homogenized milk, real cheeses and  large tubs of organic yogurt and, of course, more fresh fruit and veggies.  Maybe eventually I can get back into the consuming life of couponing (at least it was for me!!) but for now I think being able to focus more time on other things is just more important!

So, here it is, the food we'll be eating this month!  A few new recipes and a lot of FAVS!  Happy Eating!

Thanks for the recipes! I think I might try some of them! Your calendar is kind of off center though. I can't read Friday and Saturday meals. Maybe it is just me??

YUM! I just planned my menu for next week almost entirely off your menu. :) Thanks!
Oh, and once I saw "bacon", I instantly had to add it. lol

What kind of container did you get to store your flour? I've been trying to decide what would be the best type of container. I'm bookmarking your menu for help planning mine for next month. :-)
