Peter Walsh gives great advice to struggling couples who JUST CANNOT PART with that family antique broken vase or Momma's doll collection kept in the attic and even BABY CLOTHES that their children have outgrown! Now I understand those couples heart ache.....Its the memories I tell you... THE MEMORIES!!! I might forget those memories if I part with these clothes!
Deep DEEP down, I want a precious babe again. I cannot imagine not having another to hold and love. Yes, I have it bad! Just laugh with me! To feed and the joy of bringing another life into our family. Its just inconceivable. BUT those precious babes DO grow up and turn into adorable BUT very busy toddlers and then into 2 yr olds that don't want to listen, obey or sleep EVER or into 5 yr old know-it-alls that have anger issues! :o) (I'm only PARTLY kidding! ;o) Can you hear me laughing now?! ) Hubbie would be content either way. He and I both know, that at the ages of our children, it would be utterly INSANE to try and get pregnant. We are just barely hanging on some days. The insanity of our lives is just that... insane! Busy! Loud! Ugly! Messy! Now...... I must warn everyone (especially my Mother) we haven't gone and taken PRECAUTIONS so that this doesn't happen.... errrrrr.....hmmmm......maybe we should look into something, huh?!
I have decided to not only get rid of baby clothing, but also equipment that we no longer need. I hate doing this, but I keep hearing my beautiful friend, Dana's words....
(no picture here because she is a photographer + a Momma = no pictures of this Momma by herself......
.....its cheaper to replace this stuff than for me to hang on to it. And she's probably right. Not for the other clothing that I have. I have SO MANY clothes for the other ages, that it wouldn't be wise for me to get rid of the clothing that Bubbie and Peanut are outgrowing right now, because I'll have it for Buggy or Peanut and its all in really good shape(especially shoes)! But in the case of a baby.... you can hardly go to ANY yard sale that isn't over loaded with baby gear and clothing! And knowing a friend like Dana, who is an awesome yard sale-er, I know we would make a great team IF/WHEN we are blessed with another baby!
So, I will slowly continue to go through all of our baby items and start to price and tag them in preparations for a busy September with 2 consignment sales. We must declutter our home. We are running out of room! And maybe this will help me ease the baby-bug?!

I know what you mean! I need to start packing away Joseph's 0-3month clothes, and it makes me sad just thinking about it. :(
I'm doing TOTH's sale! Girl, this is a problem I did not have, I was ready to purge and not find a place to store things we no longer needed. Maybe it's because our house is on the market and I know we will be moving (hopefully) soon. We must be okay with just the one because I never get baby pangs - I mean ever. Of course you are way younger than old me - LOL!
I am in the EXACT same place this weekend! I was going through baby clothes last night and today and telling Matt how hard it is to let go of it (for me b/c I don't like to think that we really might be finished with babies - although it is looking more and more like we are). But, I'm cleaning out and moving on (I am keeping all of Little's things for Baby Girl); we need the space. Good luck!
Oh yes, I'll be all for tracking down any equipment if/when that happens. Speaking of.. Do you have Halloween costumes yet? I found one for Chloe today. I just remember us talking about this last year and thought I'd start keeping a look out for you.
I get that baby itch from time to time. But, the problem is, if you have a baby because you want a baby, they're over the baby stage before you're recovered enough from the pregnancy to realize you have a baby.. However, I'm dying for someone that I know well enough to try all sorts of contortions with their newborn baby for those adorable photographs where their face is propped up in their hands and stuff. I figure by the fourth, you're comfortable enough that you're like, "come on, if they were that fragile, my toddler would have already broken them". So, I'm all for you being our guinea pig. But please, can you time it so that it isn't cold and flu season when the baby is born oh and not on the year when their is some sort of flu epidemic so I can make sure I get to take those pictures without worrying about giving them a disease.. I mean, you know you love me enough to plan your births around me :)..
Thanks for the shout out :)
Yes, Dana is the Yard Sale Queen!
....and I know what you mean, I just tagged 300 (yes, three hundred!!) items for our consignment sale.. and I cried and cried!
Oh, I know! Our big fall sale was this weekend and it was a little easier parting with things since we just found out that sis-in-law is having a baby girl (I assured her that we DON'T want the clothes or baby gear back)! You're right about the memories! Sniffle sniffle. I was just telling DH that I'm not sure what we'd do without that consignment sale. I try and buy EVERYTHING for our girls there and fill in as needed from the sale racks at big box stores. Bet you can guess what I've done all day (removing tags, laundry, saving hangers, sanitizing toys, yada yada yada). :) I've been wanting to read Walsh's book, It's All Too Much... it's on my Paperback Swap wishlist.
Glad to know I'm not alone...I've already got baby fever, too! I decided not to get rid of our stuff-but, to lend it out, so I can have it back when we are ready!
Okay, Dana...you can use mine for your trial and error pictures!!!!
Lauren, hang on 6 more months and you can play with mine and Dana's little ones, maybe that will help the others in your house move onto another stage at least before you dive in for #4! :)
It is so hard to get rid of it! I give mine to people at church. Then, when I see their kids wear the outfits, I am reminded of my own and how little they used to be. It makes me feel like I get to hold on a little longer!
I hear you girl! It is SO hard to get rid of baby clothes even if you did know you weren't having another. Plus if you did have another you can always buy new or new to you stuff then ... plus it might be a girl so all the boy stuff wouldn't really work anyhow :)
ps... haven't posted yet but we are expecting baby #3! (also the reason for my lack of posts!!) I'm 11 weeks - due in March! Had to join the 3 club :)
I am so there with ya girl...except that I have taken the "precautions" this time around, since there are many days when I think I am going to go insane :) On Tuesday, I'll actually be able to say we have a 3, 2 and 1 year old!!! Crazy! I was just going through some clothes the other day, and was really sad about consigning them. I held them up and looked at them and dreamed of having another baby...and then I heard the fighting and screaming coming from the other room, and the baby thoughts quickly vanished. Not to say that they won't ever return, but for now, I think we're good.
