Menu Plan Monday - August 30th, 2010

Since our fridge is PACKED FULL of apples(more about that tomorrow), I cannot go to the store and stock up for the month on Tuesday when Hubbie gets paid.  I guess until we eat, can or bake with all these apples, I will go back to weekly shopping/menu planning!  Because of that, I decided to join in on this week's MPM.

Most meals this week will be leftovers from last month's menu that never got eaten or from the pantry items.  Our cabinets are getting pretty bare, but our freezer is still pretty full.  I did send Hubbie to the store last night to get our necessities (bananas, spinach and apple juice) and hopefully our 1/2 gallon of farm fresh dairy milk will last us until Wednesday evening when Hubbie makes his milk run!

Monday night- Breakfast (Pancakes and sausage)

Tuesday night- Meatloaf(from freezer), macaroni and cheese and green beans with biscuits

Wednesday night- Manicotti italian casserole (from freezer) corn and homemade bread

Thursday night- Chicken and rice casserole with broccoli

Friday night- Family Night (pizza and breadsticks) and for dessert- apple pie w/ ice cream

Saturday lunch- Leftover chicken and rice with veggies
Saturday night- Beef Fried Rice and egg rolls

Sunday lunch- out to eat
Sunday night- BBQ pork chops (on grill) , brown rice and carrots (on grill) and corn bread

And just because, a picture with me and my babies....  how I do love these little men!  They are getting so big!  Several times this past weekend I had to catch myself as I choked back tears... they are so big and make this Mama so proud!

Saying Good-Bye

Saying good-bye to my children's baby clothes is harder than I ever thought......  I seriously wanted to cry on Friday evening as I started to sort through the clothes for an upcoming consignment sale.  It probably had something to do with finishing the last part Food Inc and being so terribly heartbroken about so many of the things that I saw.  Especially the part about a 2.5 yr old dying because he ate a hamburger?  ACK!  No more fast food eating out!  But anyway, my ovaries were ACHING with intense desire to have another baby as I started to sort though baby clothing that all three of my precious babes have worn.  Onesies that they wore often because it was a cute pattern or their "signature color".  Outfits that they wore to church and made them look so dashing.  Sleepers that made them extra-extra cuddly when feeding.  Oh my!  I may start crying now!  Why is this SO difficult?  Every time I dig through the countless bags of 0- 9 mos winter clothing I hear Peter Walsh, from TLC's Clean Sweep.

Peter Walsh gives great advice to struggling couples who JUST CANNOT PART with that family antique broken vase or Momma's doll collection kept in the attic and even BABY CLOTHES that their children have outgrown!  Now I understand those couples heart ache.....Its the memories I tell you... THE MEMORIES!!!  I might forget those memories if I part with these clothes!

Deep DEEP down, I want a precious babe again.  I cannot imagine not having another to hold and love.  Yes, I have it bad!  Just laugh with me!  To feed and the joy of bringing another life into our family.  Its just inconceivable.   BUT those precious babes DO grow up and turn into adorable BUT very busy toddlers and then into 2 yr olds that don't want to listen, obey or sleep EVER or into 5 yr old know-it-alls that have anger issues!  :o)  (I'm only PARTLY kidding!  ;o) Can you hear me laughing now?!  )  Hubbie would be content either way.  He and I both know, that at the ages of our children, it would be utterly INSANE to try and get pregnant.  We are just barely hanging on some days.  The insanity of our lives is just that... insane!  Busy!  Loud!  Ugly!  Messy!  Now...... I must warn everyone (especially my Mother) we haven't gone and taken PRECAUTIONS so that this doesn't happen.... errrrrr.....hmmmm......maybe we should look into something, huh?!

I have decided to not only get rid of baby clothing, but also equipment that we no longer need.  I hate doing this, but I keep hearing my beautiful friend, Dana's words....

(no picture here because she is a photographer + a Momma = no pictures of this Momma by herself......

.....its cheaper to replace this stuff than for me to hang on to it.  And she's probably right.  Not for the other clothing that I have.  I have SO MANY clothes for the other ages, that it wouldn't be wise for me to get rid of the clothing that Bubbie and Peanut are outgrowing right now, because I'll have it for Buggy or Peanut and its all in really good shape(especially shoes)!  But in the case of a baby.... you can hardly go to ANY yard sale that isn't over loaded with baby gear and clothing!  And knowing a friend like Dana, who is an awesome yard sale-er, I know we would make a great team IF/WHEN we are blessed with another baby!

So, I will slowly continue to go through all of our baby items and start to price and tag them in preparations for a busy September with 2 consignment sales.  We must declutter our home.  We are running out of room!  And maybe this will help me ease the baby-bug?!

Our 1st Field Trip, August 2010

Today we made the trip downtown to attend a field trip organized by our home school co-op.  The field trip was at our new downtown library that we have yet to go to, so we were all kinda excited to check it out.

A trip to a library is a weekly event in our family!  I enjoy it.  The boys find books about subject or characters that they are familiar with!  I allow the big boys to each pick a movie for themselves.  My first born son always looks out for his younger brothers and makes sure each sibling has a movie they would enjoy!  We usually come home with 3 videos and about 25 books!  Its exhausting work with the 3 kiddos, especially the little ones, but its so worth it when we snuggle up each day before naps and each evening before bed time, reading and enjoying our new books!

Our new library is wonderful!  So clean and spacious!  Much MUCH different than our last one that is just across the street!  We enjoyed taking the tour of the new library and learning all about what is offered at this new facility.  Afterwards, we hung out for about a hour, looking at books and videos, visiting the potty a few times (GROAN!) and being quite a rambunctious bunch!  We were able to see some new friends that we made on Friday.  So far, no super buddies for Bubbie, which is one of my daily prayers, but I know that takes time!

After we finished up at the library, we stopped by Hubbie's work and picked him up for a lunch date!  The boys enjoy this so much...and I must admit, I do too!  It kinda breaks up the day and allows for us to be out a little longer!  Lunch was yummy.... Chick-fil-A, of course!  And then it was time to head home for naps!

All 3 munchkins fell fast asleep...they all woke up SUPER DUPER early and we did have to be out of the house much earlier than normal, so its nice to have a much earlier break!

I wish I hadn't forgotten my camera, because the new building had some really cool architectural features and of course, my rowdy bunch is always cute!  I even dressed them all in blue and khaki!  Something my new "homeschooling" buddies have clued me in on...dress your bunch the same!  ;o)  I'm sure this will come in handy when I have 3 fully mobile kiddos!

Happy 11 Months Buggy!

Our Buggy is 11 months today!  How fast this past month has flown by!  We just celebrated our little friend's birthday yesterday.  I have always "compared" our babies growth and age....knowing that they were almost exactly 1 month apart.  Its kinda sad to know that our friend's little girl is now (or will be in a few days) a year old!  :o(  It really brings everything to home for this Mama!  Our babe will be a year old in a month!  ACK!  What a busy, fun and rewarding 11 months it has been to be the Mama to our little Buggy!

In the past month Buggy has learned to say Mama.  He got his first ear infection and antibiotic.  He has continued to stay safe and not take more than 3 or 4 steps at a time!  He has decided that crawling is faster!!!  He has begun to get more involved in the boy's toys.  He will happily play along side Bubbie while he plays trains.  He attended his first wedding and alone trip with Mama and Daddy.  It sure was a blessing to have him all by himself.  He is a good baby.  Very content to just be.  He gets lots of love from his brothers.

This is our favorite pose of Buggy's! I finally caught it on the camera!  He does this eye squinty thing to get attention and it always works!  We crack up laughing everytime!  I think we have another ham on our hands!

Bugsy, we love you and are so proud to call you apart of our family!  :o)

Home Schooling Co-op Kick Off Picnic

Friday evening was our first night as official home schoolers!  We attended our co-op's kick off picnic.  The kids did marvelous!   While trying to prepare food to take, wipe faces, change clothes AND get ready, I was reminded why we just don't make it a habit to leave the house after nap time!  Its just too darn difficult!  Not sure why its so much harder than earlier in the day.  My kids are definitely creatures of habit and if food just isn't ready at a certain time, it could be heck to pay!  But I do have to say, my kids were shockingly well behaved!  My older boys tended to gravitate towards each other and in the host home's playroom while other kiddos were out in the pool.  There were at least 80 people in ENORMOUS house estate that was situated in town, but off the main road.....  they even had their own long private driveway leading through the woods, tucked behind a gate.  This house, let me tell you, I wish I had taken a camera, was exquisite!  It had it all!  A pool, a pond, large playground, a grape orchard (?) a million, zillion rooms....  This home could definitely be your house to grow old in!  Hubbie and I kept looking at each other with WIDE EYES!  It was amazing how much room this family has.  The school room was in their LARGE sunroom.  The kitchen moving room and hallways were AMAZING!  No bumping into each other here.  Truly... I lack sufficient words for this home!  It was just amazing!

But anyway, back to the evening, going to activities like this, where you know not one soul AND have little ones that you are trying to corral and NOT get stepped by on the 60-80 people, its difficult.  Hubbie and I took shifts with the kids.  I got the kids plates while Hubbie held Buggy.   Then when they were done, Hubbie ate and I took Buggy and the kids and I went and played.  Once Hubbie was done, we swapped!  Its not the best way to do a social event, because you had a difficult time talking to people, because you're trying to deal with your kids or eating when everyone is getting done, but I guess this is the way its gotta be when we have littles!  Plus, I'm sure I didn't help saying no swimming in the pool.  My older boys can't swim on their own and it would have meant all 5 of us to get swim suits on and floates and the whole shibang!  I didn't see any other adults swimming and it was overcast and trying to rain, so I told the kids no swimming!  They were SO good and didn't complain once!

The people in the co-op were kind and warm and welcoming.  Hubbie was able to talk to a few of the Dads.  Most of the Mamas were by the pool watching their little kids, so I didn't get a chance to really talk to any of them after dinner, but I know it'll come once we start going to activities........

Our first activity is a field trip on Thursday!  We are excited to start getting involved and help the kids make friends!  Buggy already made a friend... a little 13 mo old boy and Buggy hit it off.  They were super cute together and I think the new little walking friend helped Buggy be a little more aggressive about mastering his walking skills.  That or he was trying to show off his walking skills....  HAHA!  Or lack of.

Funny thing happened on our way home, Bubbie asked "Momma, when are we gonna move next?"  HAHA!  We quickly asked him why and he said, "Just wondering."  I think now is a time to teach myself AND my children a thing called contentment!  Isn't it easy to go into a large, beautiful home and continue start nitpicking your own God given home?!  Its so hard because this home is a rental and was poorly taken care of before us.  Now the landlord isn't wanting to fix a few things that don't really hurt us.... but does ruin their home.  Its hard to not want to pack up and rent/buy a bigger better place or spend our money fixing it up!  But this is where we are.  This is what we can afford.  And this home was a Godsend and a steal for the price that we pay......  so contentment Lu, contentment!  :o)

What I'm Liking This Week...

Completely in LOVE with this strainer... who wouldn't want to wash some lettuce or spinach in this?!  And I love the fact that its big with handles!  Perfect for spaghetti noodles!

I am COMPLETELY in love with the fact that school has BEGUN around town!  Except for one or two school districts, but they start on Monday!  We went to the park on Thursday and it was DRAMATICALLY different!  Kiddos were younger and less aggressive on the play equipment.  There were books at the library.  Its just nice for the "world" to go back to a schedule and routine! I do sympathize with all Mommas sending their babies off to school.  I wouldn't want to be there right now.  Sending Bubbie off to Kindergarten?  Full day Kindergarten?  Just couldn't do it!  :o(   Although, I'm a tad bit envious of all the "other Mamas" free time without kiddos!  LOL  I can't get ANYTHING done!  My house work is definitely slacking and making me a crazy Mama!  I gotta hurry up and get a baby sitter once a week before I go coo-coo!

Isn't this GORGEOUS?!  Its called Autumn Bracelet!  Would this just complete a Fall-ish outfit?!  Yummy Yummy!  Can't help but drool over this one!  So classic!

Yummy! Yummy!  Don't these look ALMOST too good to eat?!  LOL  I could get lost in these!  Can you tell I'm trying to give up/cut back on sweets?!  Its not working though.  I finally dug into a tub of chocolate icing!  LOL  Yes, I was THAT desperate for something sweet!  I gotta say....one of the biggest perks of being pregnant at this time last year was the fact that when I had a craving, I got it and it was divine!  Now..... getting off all that baby weight?  Not so divine!  :o)

Look at this!!!  I am TOTALLY loving the new recipe of granola that we made last night! (pic is not of MY granola, but mine looks very similar!!) It is scrumptious!  Oh my!  I hope to have the recipe posted on my recipe blog sometime soon, so keep checking back for it!  Its a winner!

I am totally lovin' Swype!  Hubbie downloaded it to my new phone and it makes chatting SO much easier!  It took a little while to get use to and the app STILL annoys me at times.  The most frustrating thing is for it to not recognize a word I type ALL the time... such as "that".  It continues to ask me if I am spelling another word. The funny thing is that the letters in the word aren't anywhere near the keys I am touching and its not even a word I know!  HAHA!  So, it still has issues, but it makes gmail chatting MUCH easier!

Whole Lotta Nothing

I've been absent from the 'ole blog-a-roo!  Nothing much going around our household these past few days!  Over a week ago, I came down with Hubbie's cold.  Of course, Peanut followed and cleared up within a few days.  Just a random cough now and then.  Bubbie's immune system with colds is crazy-awesome (knock on wood) so all he's had is a cough as well, off and on.  Buggy started with some crankiness and running nose Wednesday/Thursday, but I figured it would do as the other two boy's colds have done and disappear within a few days.....  a week or two TOPS!  Friday morning Buggy woke up hot, so I decided to take his temp.  You know me- paranoid, germ freak Mama, but guess what?!  He had a HIGH temp!  So we canceled our plans and stayed in.  The next morning his temp was even higher than the day before, so I tried giving him some meds and he spit it up!  I freaked!  We took him to the after hours clinic on Saturday afternoon and he did indeed have an ear infection!  His first one!  :o(  Poor guy!  The doctor asked what types of antibiotics he has been on since birth (he's not yet 11 mos old) and I said none!  She was amazed and asked if he went to daycare.  I told her no, but that he did have 2 older brothers that went to preschool/mothers day out all school year and summer.  She again was AMAZED!  I told her that it was all GOD!  She looked at me oddly and went about typing in our information (probably that I'm some religious crazed Mama).  But it truly has been ALL God.  Sure, Buggy has been sick in his 11 mos.  Probably a lot compared to some babies.  He had a cold from the end of Fall through Spring, it seemed like.  Everytime he'd get rid of one, another one would show up.  And then he got that stupid roseolla that Peanut had a few months back.  Other than that, he's been a healthy little babe and we are so thankful!  I prayed many MANY prayers for a healthy year for Buggy.  I was so concerned with Bubbie being in preschool and Buggy being born during the school year (colds, flus, stomach bugs).  God was faithful and kept Buggy from the awful bugs and we are VERY thankful!  Anyway, its almost Monday morning and Buggy is still battling this stupid infection.  The meds just aren't keeping the fever down.  We've had 4 doses of antibiotic now, so Lord willing, Buggy will wake up fever free... or at least a low grade fever, please!

In other news, we've decided to not officially start school until mid September.  For those of you who don't know, we decided to test out the waters and home school Bubbie this year. I still need some more time to organize and get our "curriculum" together.  We've been doing work books and a WHOLE LOTTA READING all summer long which has been wonderful.  I feel like we were very proactive with learning this summer.  I have some goals for Bubbie that I need to write down and just get my thoughts organized.  I would also like to get a really thorough cleaning, purging and dejunking of the house done as well.  I think this would help kinda me personally not feel so claustrophobic with our space as new things (books, supplies) come into the home.  Hubbie and I were finally able to sit down and look through curriculum.  Don't hold me to this folks, but we are about 85% sure of going with My Father's World.  I love the approach and hands on nature of the curriculum.  We are still unsure about what grade we'll be calling him.  He'll be doing the majority of the curriculum in 1st grade, but by government standards he misses the cut off date by 3 months and 3 days.  We shall see.  We'll also add in Saxon math(1st grade) as well as lots of work books, reading, outdoor fun, sports, piano lessons (taught by yours truly), co-op field trips and playdates.  I really need to get my thoughts organized- seeing a trend here?!- and on paper!  The co-op that we've picked seems organized and fun!  The fields trips planned are interesting and I hope Bubbie especially has a good year!  More info on schooling as I get things put together!

We completed the first full week of our month menu plan and it was YUMMY!  Pioneer Woman's spaghetti was AWESOME!  We gobbled up every last bite.... even Bubbie didn't need to get asked twice to eat this stuff!  Hubbie made these and froze half of the recipe into meatballs and the other half into a meatloaf!  We had the meatballs and gravy with mashed potatoes, broccoli and corn on the cob!  What a yummy home cooked meal!  Another delicious and new recipe that we had this week were these burritos.  Hubbie and I assembled them together last week and froze them in our fabulous deep freezer.  I took out a few for lunch this week and then we ate these for lunch this weekend as well!  Bubbie preferred his with mustard....don't ask!  He REALLY likes mustard!  They are such a tasty and quick lunch!  Not sure how much they cost to prepare but it makes about 15-17 roll ups and for a lunch, with other things to eat along side of it, you really only need a half- to a whole one.  These things are filling!  I think those are the only new recipes we've tried.  Next week we're eating from the same monthly menu- go here to check it out.

Hubbie and I are excitedly planning a get-away... just he and I!  :o)  My parents have kindly offered to watch all 3 kiddos so that we can get away for a weekend!  This will be AWESOME and much needed!  We've already decided where we are heading and staying!  Also, Mom and I are busy planning for our annual apple picking trip to the mountains of NC.  I can't believe Fall is just around the corner!  Thank GOODNESS!  :o)  It is SO hot!  and I am ready for jeans, sweaters and lots and lots of Fall colors!!!

Speaking of Fall colors, Buggy will be 11 mos next week and of course, the first birthday isn't far away!  I am busy planning his 1 yr portraits!  Poor 3rd born baby boy!  He hasn't had any professional pictures since he was born or itty bitty!  :o(  I'm gonna take JUST him to his shots done(if I can plan it right) and try to make it special!  All Mama's focus on the little dude will be fun and memorable!  Hopefully I can get all the props planned and ready to go too!

One last thing, don't forget to head over to Facebook and "like" the Hyperactive Lu page!  We are only 9 fans away from having a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University giveaway!  We'll be giving away a chance to take the FPU course in a town near you!  You pick location and when!  Right now is the time to do it because usually around this time of year classes pop up all over towns and churches!!!  And this is your chance to try and get in for free!  Also, invite your friends and family too!  The more people you suggest, the more entries you have into the contest!  :o)  Helps us out!!!

Whelps! my hot tea is almost gone and I'm tired of listening to my husband's drums  (from the Wii) bang!  ;o)  Time for bed!  Have a great week!

Menu Planning Tips

In case you're curious about menu planning, I thought I'd give you some tips on how to make it easier on yourself.  I probably don't do it the most efficient way, but I'm TYPE A which means I like it, how I like it and don't ask me to change it!!  Nuff said?!

Now that we're doing monthly menu planning and shopping, we have a month of not having to worry to cook or when to go to the store.  During this time I have the opportunity to start stocking  up on recipes and meal ideas.  I don't always USE that time (like last week when I realized...oh hey, guess what?  i have 3 days to prepare a month long menu and list) but I do gather blog posts/recipes that I see in my google bookmarks...just awaiting the next month!

Once I have gathered some menu ideas, I write them on a piece of paper.  I normally print off a calendar, which is also on gmail and count to see how many dinners/weekend lunches I need.  Usually I jot beside the menu item if its something that we normal having leftovers from.  Such as, if its hamburgers, I'm so cheap, that I only let us do this once a month...because it doesn't give us leftovers for 1lb of ground beef... whereas 1 lb of beef in a pasta will give us at least 2 dinner meals and sometimes a lunch for the Hubs.  So, for hamburgers, its no leftovers and for lasagna its usually 3 dinner meals( you can freeze one or two of those and spread them throughout the month so you're not SICK of lasagna!!!)

When I have a list of meal ideas, complete with the number of times we'll be eating it, I go back through the recipes and write down what I need.  During this time I make a few trips to the kitchen cub-bards and see if we have anything leftover from the previous month!  We ALSO have at least one or two meals leftover from the month before from when I didn't feel like cooking and Little Caesars sounded more appealing or sometimes I say, lets just do sandwiches and be done!  Basically this is the time I only worry about dinner/weekend lunches.  I will worry about adding breakfast, lunch, snack and basic items later.  Usually my list has a bunch of markings and scribbles.  It probably doesn't make a bit of sense to anyone but me, but it works!

Then I transfer all those meal ideas to my permanent printed google calendar.  Usually I go pretty slowly through this process.  I try and put easy to make meals or items that don't need to be grilled on work days and have our grilling items on the weekends or on Hubbie's days off.  Our Fridays have become Family Night, which the kids ADORE and so that means every Friday night its PIZZA!  If I haven't made enough menu choices for the month, thats usually when I throw in Breakfast Night!  Its usually a very inexpensive way to stretch the monthly menu.  We all love it and its generally pretty easy.  I always add in leftover nights.  I'm not a fan of the C.O.F.N. (clean out fridge night) because usually we just have too many leftovers and by that point, I'm scared that food has gone bad, etc.  For me, having leftovers pretty soon after the first serving is the best option.  I sometimes space the leftover between another meal, per Hubbie's request.

Once I've got my completed and pretty menu, I start jotting down other needs for our family.  This could include things such as flour, sugar, cheese, lunch meat, etc.  Anything I think we'll need for the month.  This task is the most daunting to me.  I think it kinda gives me anxiety that I could possibly run out of something, but thankfully we've done well so far.  It takes a few months to get into the groove.  Example- the only fruit that I can get Bubbie to eat without fussing is mandarin oranges, so I found mandarin orange cups in bulk at Sams last month and its much cheaper.  We ran out more than a week before the new month began.  Of course, the boys don't need two boxes, but I just realized that I needed to wait and open those towards the end of the first week so that maybe we won't run out as quickly.  Things like that takes time.  Last month we also ran out of flour.  This month, we purchased the 25 lb bag of flour and a food safe container for it (even has wheels...spiffy!)  so I doubt we'll run out.

As far as going back to the store for the remainder of the month, yes, we do go back.  We allow ourselves about $10-15 a week to go get more fresh fruits and veggies.  If we NEED something else, we'll grab that too, but we're suppose to not get anything but FRESH items!  Hubbie gets our milk from a local farm twice a month.  We buy 4 white milks and 1 chocolate milk roughly every two weeks.  I know our milk need will go up once Buggy starts drinking it, but for now, its manageable.  Other items that family's might need within a months period is bread.  Hubbie is so good and makes our own bread for us weekly...sometimes twice a week depending on how much we eat!  Thus the need for 25lb bag of flour!  Before Hubbie baked it religiously we were buying bread for our once a month shopping and we were running out of freezer space.  We didn't have our friend- the deep freezer- back then either!

I thought this post was a great tool.  It was kinda funny how similar our way of planning for the month!  Now this post is mostly for freezing and planning for that, but her way of going about planning is great!  There are downloadable forms but mostly for freezing meals, etc.

To see my monthly menu for the month of August, go here.

A Week Can Make A Difference...

Within one weeks time.......

Buggy has started taking steps... two and three steps at a time.... he squeals with delight and the older brothers clap for him!

Buggy has uttered the word most Mamas LOVE to hear (until their child becomes 2 and it is said with a whiny tone!!).... He said Maaamma!  Its music to my ears after months of him saying Daadda!

And Buggy has also weened himself!  (Alas!  No more nursing bras or camis!  Its time to go shopping!)  ;o)  But on a more serious note, I'm thrilled I was given the opportunity to nurse Buggy.  He was an ideal nursing babe.  I don't even think we had any issues.  God was so gracious to answer SO many prayers for this little bug!  He latched on and always seemed to know how to nurse!  I'd give just about anything to start my nursing experience with Buggy over and do it again.  It was a privilege and wonderful bonding time for he and I.  It was about the only time I was able to devote entirely to him and it was something I will always treasure!  Buggy is a busy, busy dude and is enjoying the freedom of carrying a bottle around with him.  We will begin cow's milk in a few weeks when he (gulps!) turns 11 mos old!

What a week of changes and exciting happenings in this little joy's life!

Menu Plan Monday- Posting for the Month of August 2010

Hello August!  Its insane to think about this summer being ALMOST over and the school year upon our little town!

We're starting our second month back, into the month long menu planning and grocery shopping.  I gotta say, the second month was much easier shopping for than the first, but much harder in planning!  For me, thinking about what I'm gonna eat a month for now, its difficult....especially when I'm not even hungry!  HAHA!  Maybe each month I will become more efficient and better at planning?

We are continuing to use Sam's Club as a useful month long grocery shopping tool.  And no, not EVERYTHING is a good price!  Its fun to look at people's carts and wonder about WHY they are buying that high priced junk food!  LOL!  This month we purchased the 25lb bag of flour.  Yes, we go through A LOT of flour by baking our own bread.  Also, quite a few things we purchased LAST MONTH, we still have more than half of, so again, I hope this is a trend that a lot of our stuff lasts more than a month!

Last month we increased our budget by 50 dollars.  It was something we didn't want to do but with the added mouth to feed with Buggy eating more and more food, we figured it would help cushion our spending.  Also, we have changed several of the things we have been eating.....  starting with purchasing local, non homogenized milk, real cheeses and  large tubs of organic yogurt and, of course, more fresh fruit and veggies.  Maybe eventually I can get back into the consuming life of couponing (at least it was for me!!) but for now I think being able to focus more time on other things is just more important!

So, here it is, the food we'll be eating this month!  A few new recipes and a lot of FAVS!  Happy Eating!
