A Long Weekend

Hubbie had a three day weekend which was great!  We made a list of plans on Friday and we were ready for a fun, but busy three days!  We woke up early all 3 days.  We got ideas.  We talked.  We had a hard time making decisions.  We shopped.  Do you know how difficult it is to shop with four children?  Three of them being under four years old?  Oh my goodness!  Several times I think we thought we were going to lose it!  HAHA!  Our children  have lived off drive thrus this weekend to add to the frustration!  I think we've been up moving every day around 8 and then going to bed by 2?  We are tuckered!

Thankfully Nana came to the rescue on Saturday night and offered a date night!  It was glorious after a stressful day!

At the end of the weekend we have a new living room....Well, actually, every room in the house has changed, except for kitchen and bathrooms.  Rotating furniture around.  We got rid of our couch, tv cabinet and all other furniture in the living except for the piano.  Opening up the room, but providing more seating.  We have a paint color chosen.  Not sure when we'll actually paint.  We also fixed the kids room.  By taking out the book shelf in the living room, moving it to our room, it gave me some storage for my fabrics and our books but we didn't have a spot for the kids books.  So, we added another cubbie for Bubbie's clothes and books.  Now there is a wall of cubbies and baskets.  It looks so neat!  I have STILL not sewn their curtains.  One day.  We moved a piece of furniture out to the curb (old, broken, ugly) that had been keep my fabric, etc.  We also had to move some chairs around.  We moved a chair from the living room into Millie's room.  Then the chair in her room, moved into our room.  Its funny.  We only moved out two pieces of furniture from our room and brought in two pieces, but it feels so open and cozy.  Strange.

We also had some time to take the chickens outside.  They were so cute.  Chirping away.  The kids were tickled to see the chickens running around.  Peanut decided to play a "pet the chicken" game where he was petting each chicken, once, kind of like you would a dog, from head to tail.  The chickens would be startled by such a heavy hand and jump away.  The kids thought this was hilarious!  We have so enjoyed having the chickens.... they are very messy though!  Hubbie has to change the cage twice a week and could probably do it more if he wanted to.  The chickens dump the food over.  I think this just shows you that there IS a Creator and that He designed everything a certain way, with a purpose.  The chickens dump the food over and then bury it.  They'd rather eat it, like they were hunting for worms than in a feeder.  Isn't that neat?!

Anyway, I feel like we did things this weekend that we would have done if I hadn't been pregnant and under a time crunch when we first moved in.  I feel like in some rooms, we haven't made them our own.  Just IN the house.  So I'm thankful that we are able to do a little bit.  And, also, having pieces in our home that serve a purpose (storage, plenty of seating, etc.) and not just having it because it was given to us, etc.  I guess chosen our own style and making the space that we do have, function better for a 6 person family.  I prayed a lot this weekend, so I really hope we made decisions that were pleasing to the Lord.  Did I mention I hate making decisions?!

We did a ton of lifting and moving.  And its still not over yet.  We haven't had a chance to sit down and enjoy our new living room.  And I'm anxious to make some homemade meals with veggies and nothing processed in them!  We are all in need of relaxation and healthy food!

I would love to see pictures! We struggle with seating in the living room, too - just with 5 of us. Everyone wants to sit on the couch together, but it is not large enough to be comfortable:)
